家长提问:How to deal with playing games/electronic excessively?

This is a question from today's seminar "teens speak out". Teens, please share your opinion here. Thanks.

 

Assign more work to keep them

Assign more work to keep them busy. If they aren't able to fulfill the work, then take away their priveliges. If they're in high school, you could let them play--they'll find that they're hurting themself and learn to fix their problems their own way.

In my opinion, imposing time limits on games becomes ineffective and an incentive for the child to play games in an adult's absence. Keep them busy one way or another--whether it be more productive work for academics or fun such as reading or playing outdoors.

Teach discipline and

Teach discipline and maturity. Remind them that in 10 years they won't remember the games that they've played or ever care about them. Have them think "What if, instead of spending all that time playing video games, I spent working and having fun in more productive ways such as reading?" Have them seriously give an answer. In order to break this habit THEY must realize what they're doing to themselves.
